Self care checklist: Valentines day edition

Valentine’s is all about self care and indulgence.
As Valentine’s Day is approaching, we at Renew Spa and Wellness Clinic encourage you to indulge in self-care this upcoming holiday. After all, Valentine’s Day is all about love, and that starts with self-care. You deserve to pamper yourself, invest in yourself, and ultimately put yourself first.
So, we invite you to spoil yourself as you participate in habits that will reward you this Valentine’s day.
Don’t know where to start?
Here is your ultimate self-care checklist for Valentine’s day.
Drink Water Throughout Your Day –
We all know of the simple benefits that drinking water can have on your health: clear skin, increased energy level, and increased brain function. Yet we don’t find time to implement this simple habit. So, don’t just start your day off with a glass of water, but constantly reach for your water bottle throughout the day.
Still not intrigued? Here are simple ways to motivate you to reach for a glass of water and get those required 8 glasses.
Tip 1
Special Water Bottle – Specified water bottles can be a great way to track your water intake throughout the day. If your water bottle of choice is functional and appealing, it will also entice you to reach for it throughout the day.
Tip 2
Infused Water – Try cutting up some lemon, mint, cucumbers, strawberries, or any other additives that will help enhance the taste of your water. Infused water is also a great way to get nutrients from the added fruits and vegetables. Infused Water Recipe
Ease into the day –
Before you get out of bed, try to start a wake-up routine. Don’t just rush out of bed or jump to your phone. Make your bed and do some easy morning stretches. This will allow your body to get prepared to wake up. We often forget that our bodies need time to catch up with our minds. So, try waking up with intention and participating in these designed morning stretches.
Journal –
Start your day by writing down 5 things you love about yourself. If you have difficulty complimenting yourself, pretend you are writing about a friend; we tend to be much kinder to our friends than ourselves).
Next, try to think of 5 areas of improvement or habits you want to implement. The key is to write these statements in the present tense, starting with “I will….”. Writing in the present tense is a way to help train your brain into having a more positive and motivated mindset. You do not necessarily need a specific journal, but having a designated space for journaling can help motivate you to keep writing. – Journal Online Journal
Fresh air
With covid and the winter weather, it can be a hectic time for us all, which is why we encourage you to get some fresh air. You don’t have to be outside for too long – We know it’s cold out, but just getting some fresh air can help boost your overall mood.
So, walk your dog, have a walk around the block, or even get the mail, just try not to spend your entire Valentine’s Day cooped up inside, get that fresh air – you’ll thank us later 😉
Do something for yourself –
We only focus on our relationships with others around Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, this means that we often neglect ourselves. Oftentimes, we think doing things solely because they make us happy is selfish. In reality, it is necessary for our mental health and overall well-being. We all have those songs, comfort movies, shows, and of course, favorite meals that can cheer us up. But here’s the thing, we don’t have to wait for a specific occasion to be cheered up to indulge.
Book a Spa Appointment
Treat yourself to a spa day at your favourite Medical Spa location. Routine spa visits and treatments are statistically proven to help boost overall confidence and happiness. The more we invest in ourselves, the more we realize our worth.

Move your Body-
Starting your workout routine can be intimidating, but I promise you that you will feel so much better once you get over the first hurdle. Consistently moving your body is linked to increased productivity and mental focus. Above all, working out releases endorphins that will leave you with the best feeling post-workout. Social media may make it seem like you need the latest gym fit and equipment to successfully move your body. Still, all you really need is some comfortable attire and some space around you. In fact, you can get a full-body workout right in the comfort of your own home.
Call or Facetime Your Friend
Be spontaneous and call or video chat with that friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with. If you don’t have the time for a call, text them a message and let them know how you feel.
Practicing self-care doesn’t mean we can’t extend that love to others. So reach out to your friends, call your loved ones, and be the reason that they smile today.
Have THE Bath –
The winter weather will help set the mood as you treat yourself to a nice hot steamy bath or shower of your choice. Make a playlist of your favorite songs, light a candle, turn off the light, and enjoy. All you really need is yourself and your mind to set the mood. Pair your bath with a nice at-home facemask by yours truly Renew.
Ease Into the Night –
Instead of spending hours scrolling on your phone or with those late-night racing thoughts, wind down and give your body the care it needs before you head to bed. Complete your skincare routine, wind-down stretches designed to improve your quality of sleep. Read a few chapters of that novel that you’ve been meaning to get to.
So, put yourself first this next Valentine’s day!
Give yourself the ultimate self-care day with the help of our self-care checklist. You deserve to be spoiled and cared for and at Renew we are here to help.
Happy Valentine’s Day Renewers!
Take Care <3
