FAQ’S
Treatment Expectation
There are two types of cupping therapy methods, dry and wet. Both methods use a flammable substance to suction the cup onto the body.
Side effects: persistent skin discolouration, scars, burns, and infections, and may worsen eczema or psoriasis. It is normal to have the outline of the cups be red and visible after your treatment.
Duration: 5 to 10 minutes
Treatment Steps
Our ND will use a flammable substance such as alcohol, herbs or paper to set fire, after the fire goes out the cup will be placed on your target area and suctioned onto your skin. Your blood vessels will expand as the cup cools and creates a vacuum suction. The cup is then left in place for typically 3 minutes.
Aftercare Instruction
• Hydrate
• Stay warm
• Rest – you may experience some flu-like systems this is a temporary reaction by your immune system to the cellular waste that cupping helps to release.
Try to avoid coffee and or alcohol in the days after your treatment. In addition, try to avoid ice or cold as this will increase the body’s stagnation.
Treatment Downtime
There is no downtime for cupping therapy, though your treatment area will have circular cup marks.
